Reflection
John gives a direct instruction: “Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits.” Leadership requires discernment about the voices that shape decisions.
Influence surrounds leaders constantly. Advisors, peers, critics, media, and internal voices all compete for attention. Not every confident voice carries wisdom. Not every loud opinion deserves weight.
Discernment protects leadership from being pulled in too many directions. When leaders fail to test the voices around them, they slowly surrender clarity to the loudest influence in the room.
Testing does not mean distrusting everyone. It means evaluating what aligns with truth, wisdom, and godly character. Leaders who practice discernment create stability because their direction is not constantly shifting with every new pressure.
Clarity grows when leaders learn to filter the voices they allow to shape their thinking.
