Leaders rarely fail by abandoning responsibility. More often, they lose alignment by misplacing emphasis.
Jesus points to a group that was disciplined and attentive, yet misaligned. They were careful in small details while neglecting what carried greater weight.
This is a common leadership tension. It is possible to build strong systems, maintain high standards, and still lose sight of what matters most.
Servant leadership keeps the weightier matters at the center. Justice, mercy, and faithfulness are not abstract ideas. They shape how decisions are made and how people are treated.
Jesus does not dismiss structure or discipline. He restores the proper order. The smaller details matter, but they should not replace the greater responsibilities.
